The Paleo-climatology and Paleo-oceanography research group is led by Dr. Yurui Zhang, and consists of several graduate and undergraduate students. With the research tool of the Earth system model and regional model, the overall goal is to reconstruct paleo-climate and paleo- ocean circulation evolution and understand their driven mechanisms.
The research interests include: 1) Ocean circulation and climate response to melting ice sheets during the glacial-interglacial cycles; 2) Evolution of global ocean circulation on tectonic scale and associated global changes; 3) The possible ocean circulation modes on Earth, their routers and pathways of ocean currents and maintaining mechanisms.
